First finish and some sewing,

My first finish for 2010 is a Prairie Schooler design, and I finished it as flat fold. I love flat folds. They look so neat, don't need a frame, and I can just display them. Love it!!!

Christmas Eve by The Prairie Schooler
stitched on 28ct Cashel (solo from Silkweaver)
The fabrics in front and background are the fabrics used for the flat fold finish

See the little angel in the picture? Anna sent it to me for Christmas. And I'm totally in love with it. It is SO cute. Such a little beauty.

Here is my progress on Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow. While stitching the second blog I became aware that in January started a  SAL for it, and that stopped me in the tracks. I joined in the fun and will finish blog 2 in February. Here is where I was at when I stopped:
Block 2 in progress

And look what we found in our backyard:

Hero as I am, I called Mike to grab it. But I was brave enough to take a picture...lol. So there!!! I'm not a total chicken. Besides...these things bite. Plus Mike is better in catching whatever then I am. Did I ever tell you we had a mouse in the house? 3 cats (yes you are reading that correctly THREE cats) were watching with interest how Mike was catching the mouse.  He caught another mouse (this time with a trap) in the garage....and we left the cats in the garage to get them interested in it. They didn't even look at it...nor sniff. EUWWWW....a dead mouse!!!! That's our cats...sigh.

I also did some sewing. We have some very comfy chairs in front of our garden doors...however they look totally terrible. The white cushions became partially black...and rather spotty. With that said, I found a great tutorial for covers from Amy. I love especially how she finished off the corners. So simple and easy, but it makes a world of difference.

This is how our chairs looked before .....

Me and the girls hard at work in the craft room .......

The finished product!!! And no ...it was not intended that a doggy moved IMMEDIATELY on it. I told Lucy off and told her to get her bum off the pillow. She was very impressed...look at that tail.

My loud protests helped. Mike and Ashely came immediately to my aide...errm...sort of.  Anyway...that was it...I threw them all off the pillow and brought both pillows outside and put them on the chair. Then went inside to get the camera....came back outside....

I threw them off the seats!!!! Minutes later....

I gave up at that point. I got the hints: one of the next things to sew will be new dog beds. I'm such a person of authority....lol.

Wow, you have been busy in these first few days of 2010. Your PS finish is wonderful! And your WIP is one of my favorite designs.

Your newly covered chairs are great - looks like the dogs won out on ownership of them :-)

Enjoy your weekend.

Love the Prairie Schooler. It's wonderful. Wow! I'd hate to find that reptile in my yard. Your fur babies are too cute.

Love your PS finish Gabi. It looks beautiful! Our cat catches a lot of mice but it's not so great as he doesn't always eat the whole thing! The chair covers are brilliant. You have sure been busy already this year :-)

Wow! Your flatfold looks amazing!
Your covered chairs look great. I can see why the dogs don't want to move~
Since that snake is not in my yard,I think it's cool, (I would feel differently if it was right here...)

LOL. These pictures made my day. You immediately know has the final say in your household, lol.
I love the PS finish, it's such a wonderful design. And your flatfold skills are fantastic. I have never tried myself on a flatfold although I have a lot of finished stitching that would be ideal for a flatfold finishing. Maybe one day.

Your PS looks great!

I laughed at the antics of your dogs, they know the best seats in the house!

That's one icky lizard! I am working on Christmas at HRH, I have a question. Are you stitching yours over 1 or 2? I am doing mine 1 over 2 like the pattern says and I'm just not happy with how sickly the stitches look.

Hi Gabi, I'm so glad my tutorial helped you! Those covers look great, and so comfy, I'm not surprised the dogs were up there like a shot :)

Love to get your updates. Great photo story with the cushions! I see the dogs switched seats on you though! Your are really giving your sewing machine a workout lately! Love, love, love the flatfold. I just received my DSL order yesterday with my PS ornaments! Your HRH looks great too and now you can be part of a SAL which is always fun! What was that reptile??? Looks like the size of a small gator!!

Love how you finished the Prairie Schooler design! Great job on refinishing the chair cushions. You know you've done a good job when you can't keep the animals and humans off them. LOL

Congrats on the PS finish, it's gorgeous! And on all the rest too.

I would have run for miles screaming madly upon spotting the reptile... lots of lizards over here, but they're *tiny*!!

ROFLOL at those pups of yours, enjoying the fruit of your sewing endeavors. Looks like they approve! :) They are really nice--I admire your talent with a needle and thread!

Beautiful finish on the PS design!

So what the H*?& is that critter thing??? Seriously, that is one scary looking creature...what did you end up doing with it?

I agree with your dogs...the new chair covers are great. :)

ROFL - love it, love it! Your PS flatfold is adorable and I love the CAHRH - what fabric did you use - I really like it. Are you using DMC or silks, etc.? Your seat covers look wonderful, but they really look better adorned with some form of fur - hehehe
And finally, YIKES - if I saw that critter, I'd be yelling, too!

Wow, you've been busy already - I adore your flat fold finish ... I really should think about doing that with some of my seasonal stitching too :) Love, love, love your revamped cushions, and was laughing my socks off when I saw the photos and the cushion domination by fluffy bums - too, too funny! :D

It looks like I'm not only the one that has visits from creatures...
I love your flatfold and I think I will turn my "Almost Perfect" (my first finish for 2010) to a flatfold also...
