Do you do New Year Resolutions?

Do you? I normally don't. And if...I normally fail in no time. I hate it to be restricted.

BUT...to give it at least a go,  I had a look in my basket of (partly) kitted up projects, and I think I might own a tad more then I can finish.

Blackbird Design:  – Loose Feathers Autumn, Summer, Winter (this one will be soon added!) – Christmas Garden,  Winter Wonderland, Anniversaries of the heart , Summer Basket, Awake the Dawning Day
The Drawn Thread – The Marriage of Minds
Scarlet Letter – Emma Miles 1848
Plum Street Sampler – Turkey Love, Sergei, Boris Olga
With Thy Needle and Thread  - Feather Thy Nest
 Rosewood Manor – Spring Quakers
LHN – several 2010/2011 ornaments, The North Wind, Home of a Needleworker, Let Thy Heart be Merry, Neighborhood
Shakespears Peddler:  Jenny Bean Christmas Sampler, Jenny Beans Friendship Sampler, Jenny Bean Halloween Sampler, Home Springs Eternal
The Sampler Company:  Birds Sampler, Sweet Humility Sampler,  Floral  Sampler
Carriage House Samplings: Black Willow Farm, Her Sampler, Molly
Examplars of the Heart: Fancy Tulip
Victoria Sampler: Jingle Bell Tree Farm, Where Stitchers Gather
With My Needle: Pair of Pincushions
 Sheepish Designs: Ewe Alone
 Vermillion: Wisdom Sampler
 Betsy Morgan: Tiny Treasures
Nora Corbett: Letter M and S
Goode Huswife: Elizabeth Easton, Bird Keeper,  Ira Ray, Ida May, I the wed
La d da - lazy alphabet, oh birdy,  and another small one which just fell back into the pile and I’m not gonna after it!!! Probably a bird of some sort

Couple of others, I don’t care at this point Somehow the pile got mixed up and I put all of them beauties back in the basket. My husband is wrong and I am NOT a hoarder!!!! I do COLLECT.

Oh, and and this doesn’t cover what’s all hidden in my cabinet. All the charts that happen not to be kitted up (yet).  We won’t talk about these won’t we? We stay friends…right?

Which means my resolution for 2012 should be that  I should stop buying charts, buy less charts and not kitting them up, be just a tad more sensible in my purchases!!!! Yeah, I can live with that - I think. I can be sensible (at times),
Insert a sigh of relief, and I found a New Years Resolution I can live with.  The sun shines again.

Speaking of  sun. It was SO hot here, wasn't funny anymore. Which meant I stayed under the airco and played with Charlotte

Love those resolutions and Charlotte is looking wonderful. We have had a beautiful sea breeze all day today, I hope your heat disappears soon.

I would love some heat here. I think it's supposed to get down to sixteen degrees F tonight. Brrrrr... Grats on the progress, and on finding a New Years resolution you can live with. I need to follow your shining example.

This is looking reallly nice. I would also love some sun. We have rain and gales at the moment. I don't make any resolutions instead I call them new year achievements as it sounds more positive if I do achieve them. have a nice day

Wow that is some list there Gaby, they are all so lovely to sew, if there were only 36 hours in the day LOL. The shops would go bust if we stop buying!!
Charlotte looks wonderful, sorry to hear it's unbearably hot, send it here please:)

Charlotte is looking wonderful.
There is a lot in your project stash, many wonderful things. I am sure you will knock a bunch of them out in 2012 :)

I don't know if I should laugh in a 'been there, done that, got the t-shirt' sort of way, or in an 'oh my gosh, how did she get into my stitching stash?' sort of way. Yeah--I think I have just about all the things that you mentioned ready to go, too. I don't really do resolutions but am going to work hard on stitching what I have and being realistic when buying new stuff. I know I'm going to cave when Market comes around next month, and I always get sucked into Plum Street & BBD new releases--but I do hope to work from my stash more.

Charlotte is coming along so well--great progress!

Good resolution. I'm going to try to be more sensible too. lol! I have so much more kitted up than you, so please don't feel you're out of control! Nice stash though -- it's great to know you can just dive in and start something, right? Charlotte is gorgeous, of course! It's fun watching her take shape under your needle! It's like revisiting an old friend. :D

Hehe what a great resolution!

Your stitching is absolutely gorgeous Gabi! I can't wait to see more of this.

I am also stitching what I have rather than making new purchases, and it is a good feeling! My resolution is just to be happy! And, I agree there is a difference between being a collector and being a hoarder!

Katrina said...

Wow I have a lot of those projects too, some kitted, some finished, some halfway done :-). I always think I should stop collecting but then some new wonderful piece comes along and I can't help myself, LOL. Charlotte is so pretty.

Those are some lovely projects. I don't even bother with a resolution any more. My memory is too short and I forget in a day or two. If I had one, it would be no more purchases but I have forgotten it already lol.

Katherine said...

No resolutions here - can't be bothered! Do love your progress and loved how you said "played with Charlotte".

Catherine said...

Charlotte is such a pretty playmate!
I don't bother with resolutions cause I know I won't keep them! I'll keep your stash secrets if you keep mine.... ;)

My ONLY resolution each New Years is NO RESOLUTIONS, LOL! I know I won't keep a single one, so why aggravate myself??!!

Love your list...lots of lovely bits and pieces.

Charlotte is beautiful...can't wait to see more of her.

Happy New Year Gabi! Good luck with your resolutions. I have a good many of those charts on my list of must dos as well!
I love the BBD New Year finish on your header. It looks great!

Lots of great designs in your stast! Your current one is just lovely!

chrisstitches said...

You sure made lots of progress on Charlotte.

LOL... your stash secret is safe with me. I'll never admit how many projects I have in the works or waiting to be kitted up. Collection... it's a collection... that's the perfect word.
Your Charlotte is gorgeous.

I love your resolution! More sensible stash collecting!!

Paul & I sat down together on New Year's Day to work on our new buget for the year. We are going to be even more frugal so that we can actually make a dent in our debt this year. What helps is I have a part time job and he is finally off of furloughs so he is getting his full paycheck after almost 2 years of not!

A toast, with my coffe cup, lol, to the best new year's resolution anyone has come up with :)

"Be a tad more sensible in your purchases" sounds like a good New Year's Resolution to me! Happy Stitching!

Carol said...

I am not a resolution person--just try to do the best I can each day :)

Sure wish we had some of your heat, Gabi--it was only 10 degrees F here this morning. But, the snow covered ground is so, so pretty :)

Pumpkin said...

WOW! That's quite a list. Do you expect to stitch all those this year? LOL!

Charlotte is looking good :o)

Charlotte is beautiful! And your resolutions, well, give it a try, but don't be disappointed if you forget them sometimes ;)
By the way, do you have long holidays in summer too, like we do? Schoolchildren have long holidays (6 weeks)in summer, is it the same in Australia, but then around Christmas? I just wondered....

Ellen said...

Wow, a great list! I think I have most of them too! I am also a collector, ha, ha!

Love Charlotte!

Hugs,

You put a lot in your list. Happy new year.

Nancy M said...

I guess it's a good thing I don't kit things up! I don't have many WIP or things dying to stitch. I do have more charts than I can ever finish, but I think I am under control. Maybe I'm delusional!!! Hope the heat gets a little better. Much nicer to stitch sitting on the patio than in the A/C!!

Gillie said...

The wind is roaring around the house, it is 5:30 am and I can't sleep, please send heat by express! As one who just began the crazy challenge I am in no position to comment about too much stuff, just enjoy, Gabi, there are far worse passions in life!

Cardygirl said...

Beautiful stitching. Love the list...saw a few things I have ready to go on it! Maybe we should make one each and share them...LOL!

Lesleyanne said...

No resolutions here. Love the list, look forward to seeing your work on it.

Happy New year to you and your loved ones, Gabi!

That is some list. Pfew. Very brave of you to post it :o)

Lois said...

Oh my, what a list Gabi! I'm aiming to try and work a little more from my stash this year. It's not as though I don't have enough to keep me happy all through 2012!!!! Nice progress on your WIP! No sun here, just wind and rain!

Sally said...

Charlotte is looking lovely.

My resolution is to stitch from my chart stash for at least the first 6 months of this year. Think I can do it??? Lol!

Giovanna said...

What a mind-boggling list, lol! I'll look forward to your stitching in 2012 :-)

Ann at Beadlework. said...

I admire you for being so honest about your stash etc. I often feel guilty about mine and feel that I should be doing something about reducing it - either stitch more or give some things away.

Rowyn said...

I don't really do stitching new years resolutions, as I am too easily swayed!

You sure do have a lot of great stash. Can't wait to see what you stitch in 2012.

I think your resolution is perfect. My husband always says "everything in moderation". Except of course for his fishing supplies.

Great post! You had me laughing about the hording bit. I think we all have that sickness in us somewhere. I like the resolution to be more sensible in your purchases. I hope I can do that this year as well.
Thanks for always commenting on my blog. I've finally gotten you added to my blogroll, so I can follow you better.
Take Care and great start!

Jean said...

We all have those hidden little charts and resolutions. I have tried to keep my supply low, mainly since I like to work on one at a time. Your Charlotte is coming along nicely.

Littlebit said...

Your Charlotte is stunning, Gabi!! I decided to not make any resolutions this year, since I did not meet my goals last year. I just would like to finish what I have started! I will let you know how that works for me. LoL!

Chris said...

Love those resolutions!! I see one of your charts is Spring Quaker I have just finished this and it is so pretty stitched up.

I think we're in the same boat, Gabi... with more charts than we can possibly do. Sensible shopping... is there such a thing? LOL

Happy New Year, Gabi!
